Spanish Kitchen is an old staple in Las Cruces. Plenty of variety in their menu offerings and one of the friendliest waitresses I have had. Initial chips and salsa are complimentary. The red chile enchilada plate was spicy yet full of flavor and it's great to finish your meal with their basket of sopapillas.

Read the other reviews and in my opinion they were expecting Mexican food. This is not Mexican Food. This is Traditional Spanish Food from New Mexico. New Mexican Cuisine! I came came here to have a real New Mexico experience before I went back home to California from watching the solar eclipse in Texas. I tried calling in a To-Go order but no answer. It's no problem I respect it, it's an older business, they were probably busy. I ordered Red Chile con Carne and 2 orders of sopapillas. As I was waiting I noticed the jukebox and the older generation passing through the restaurant. This place doesn't need extra frills. It's traditional New Mexico style cooking. My first bite of my sopapilla tasted like HOME. The Chile con carne tasted like my grandmothers. The Chile con carne came with a homemade flour tortilla, it had a little bit of a baking soda aftertaste but, my grandmas handmade tortillas really aren't perfect either. This place it traditional and perfectly imperfect.

I have been going to the Spanish Kitchen since the 1980's The red cheese enchiladas may be the best in southern New Mexico. Add an egg for a little more flavor. Whenever I am in Las Cruces I try to eat at the Spanish Kitchen. Take time to look at the photos of Las Cruces from the turn of the 1900s.

My family has been eating here since I was a baby (I'm 29). The food is still as good as it was 20 something years ago. The red enchiladas have always been my go to. But having tried everything on the menu, you can't go wrong. Their rellenos are some of the best in town. And their rice is my favorite in all of Las Cruces. I've attached a picture of their menu as we couldn't track it down online to order to go. But we were craving it so much we dined in and was served by the owner who was such a pleasure. Enjoy.
